RULES
you must be 18+ to interact. i enjoy writing dark and adult themes and the boys contains heavy topics such as rpe, mass murder, child experimentation, violence, etc.. while there is no guarantee that these themes will enter the threads we write, this is the universe that hughie comes from, so there is a chance. the only things i won’t write are pregnancy, pedophilia, incest, scat, vore and straight up murdering my muse
the best way to interact with me is either through memes or shooting me a dm, so long as we’re mutuals. i’m more than happy to chat ooc and i love plotting, so feel free to hmu!
when it comes to formatting, i’m very easy. i’m happy using icons or none at all, and while i prefer to format my replies, i’m happy to reply without if it’s what my partner prefers.
i’m multi-threads, multi-ships, pretty much multi-everything. i’m greedy. gimme everything you got.
i will tag my triggers with “cw trigger name”
tags to blacklist: just when you think this shit can’t get any more horrible | dead dove content themes included but not limited to: r*pe, SA, toxic relationships, stalking, child abuse, non-con, gaslighting, abusive relationships. with poise and willingness to improvise | nsfw themes: anything sexual or related to consensual BDSM
season four treats hughie deplorably. unlike the show, i will be treating the insane amount of trauma that hughie goes through seriously. within a very short space of time, hughie euthanises his dad, is told that butcher is terminally ill, is sexually assaulted by two people and nearly raped by one of them (who also happens to be his childhood hero), and then is r*ped multiple times by a shapeshifter who he believed was annie. i will be depicting hughie as extremely traumatised at any point in all of this. if you agree with the writers and victim blame hughie for having, what he believed to be consensual sex with his girlfriend/fiance, then do not interact with me.
don’t godmod, don’t be mean, the usual
i work long hours at a very tiring job. sometimes i can be slow getting to replies or stress kills my creativity, so please be patient. on the flipside, please take your time with your replies. this is a hobby, not a jobby and i’m more than happy to wait a long time for replies

One of Hughie’s earliest and most defining memories is that of his mom abandoning him and his dad not long after his sixth birthday. The loving and supportive household he had once known more or less vanished overnight, leaving him with a father trying to raise his son single handedly, while battling his own mental health issues. Hughie emulated his Dad’s coping mechanism of watching TV and eating comfort food right through to adulthood, even though by then he had learned to hate it. Because of Hughie’s experience of important people leaving him in the past, Hughie is riddled with self esteem and abandonment issues; while it makes him clingy, it also means that he is intensely loyal to those who cares about and will go to any lengths necessary to keep his loved ones safe. All of this becomes exacerbated when his girlfriend Robin is destroyed right before his very eyes.Robin was the best thing in Hughie’s life. She believed that he could do better for himself and pushed for him to do so. Her bloody departure left a cavernous hole in Hughie’s life, which, with the introduction of Billy Butcher, was soon filled with more gore and Hughie’s attempts to toe the line between justice and vengeance. Translucent was the first person he murdered and while he abhors violence and has seen enough blood and guts to last him a lifetime, Hughie still got a rush from killing him. He had been powerless to stop his mom from leaving, powerless to save Robin; but finally, finally, Hughie had the power to do something. The feeling of helplessness persisted and grew in strength as his girlfriend Annie (Starlight) found herself in Homelander’s sights. The introduction of Temp V couldn’t have been better timed and against his better judgement and Butcher’s orders, Hughie shot up; the rush he got from killing Translucent paled in comparison. He was no longer useless and he would never have to watch somebody he loved being torn, literally, away from him ever again.Unlike the rest of the Boys, Hughie is not a man who exudes danger or gives the impression that he’s a murderer. He’s awkward. He babbles when he’s nervous, he has the same, big goofy grin that he’s had since he was twelve and he still uses the L’Oreal strawberry shampoo for kids because he likes the smell. In spite of the way his anger explodes out of him, culminating in the most violent of ways, Hughie is, at his core, a good person. His main motivator, above all else, is to protect the ones he loves and to try and do so in a world where the right choice is rarely ever the easiest.
VERSES
MAIN VERSE | you're only human
season one: Stricken by grief and righteous fury after A-Train murdered his girlfriend, Hughie willingly follows Billy Butcher and his group down a path of gore and destruction; surprising himself and others when he discovers he’s actually capable (and good) at certain acts of criminality.season two: Wanted as an anti-supe terrorist, Hughie and the Boys go into hiding and Hughie finds that life has become harder than he ever thought it could be. The stakes have never been higher and coming out of it alive seems impossible.season three: What is supposed to be a steady and safe world gets turned on its head again as Hughie’s boss turns out to be a violent supe. Hughie goes down a path which he hopes will rid him of the helplessness that plagues him: Temporary V.season four: As the world seems to creep closer to its end days, Hughie’s mental health violently deteriorates, as he experiences trauma after trauma in quick succession. He pushes on (what else is he supposed to do?), but it’s clear that beneath his determination, he is very, very far from okay.
ALTERNATE UNIVERSE | simon & garfunkel
hacker verse | Baby Driver
Living in New York is expensive, but so is moving out, and Hughie and his dad can’t afford to do either. As much as it pains the supe fanboy in him and as terrified as he is of getting caught, Hughie turns to crime to pay the bills; specifically cyber crime. He does his fair share of ethical hacking on the side to make up for the money he steals, even though he’s sure that the big corporations that he hacks won’t miss the hundred or so dollars he takes considering their coffers hold millions. He still has his job in Sales and Installations, but his side gig is far more fruitful; and much more fun. His ethical hacking jobs often target organisations such as Scientology and when he can stand to, he spends a good deal of his time leading along creeps and sending their information anonymously to the police. When Robin dies, Hughie’s next target becomes the only one that he never would have dreamed of targeting: Vought.Ages: 21-28 (can take place before or after Robin’s death)martyr verse | Keep the Customer Satisfied
Hughie’s power is one of tragedy, for he can never truly save anyone without sacrificing himself. He has the gift (or curse) of immortality; more specifically, the power of resurrection. He can be killed, but he will always come back to life, no matter the manner of how he passes away. Hughie discovered this power during an incredible spate of bad luck. He and his girlfriend Robin were held up in the robbery of a bodega; while trying to protect Robin, both Hughie and his girlfriend were shot to death. Hughie found himself awake, after the terrifying and traumatising experience of dying, completely healed; only Robin couldn’t return the way he had done. He had died for nothing. After news of the “miracle”, Vought contacted Hughie, offering to make him a member of the Seven, christening him with the supe name Martyr. For Hughie, it was a dream he never thought possible coming true, the only silver lining to all of the trauma and misery he had gone through, until the moment was alone with the Seven. From that point on, it became an unending nightmare. To test the limits of his powers, Hughie was murdered by the very heroes he looked up to, over and over and over. When Hughie tried to leave, the threat of being sold off as an experiment was heavily implied and he was reminded that while he may not be able to die, there were plenty of others that he cared about that could. Now Hughie is made to act as though he was touched by god, donned in garbs fitting for a saintly knight, complete with sword which he has to quickly learn how to use. Despite how uncomfortable it makes him, he’s forced to attend religious expos and spout scripture that he doesn’t believe in. His missions are always filled with blood, either by his own hand or through being forced to heroically sacrifice himself to save someone. With every passing day, he feels less like a hero and more like a perpetrator that heroes are supposed to stop and the victims they should be saving.Powers
Resurrection: Hughie has no healing powers, the main reason why he didn’t discover that he was a supe until the moment he died. He can be injured and maimed like any other regular human. It’s only when he finally perishes that his powers are revealed. There is no form of death that Hughie can’t come back from. He can be shot, drowned, thrown from great heights, lasered in half, exploded, and he will always come back.Strength: When compared to his compatriots, Hughie doesn’t seem to have any enhanced abilities when it comes to strength; but in comparison to non-supes and taking into account his slim stature, it becomes clear that Hughie is unnaturally strong. He’s just nowhere near being as strong as any other member of the Seven.Precognition: Hughie was only able to get brief visions of the future after the first time he died. Ironically, if this power didn’t need to be triggered by the other, it would have allowed him to save Robin’s life. As with his other power, Hughie has no control over his precognition. He can’t willingly see into the future (at least, when he’s tried, it hasn’t worked), instead, he’ll get premonitions, flashes of what’s about to happen, giving him just enough time to react. It’s life saving, but only if his reflexes are sharp enough to act upon the information he’s been given.Aura sight: Hughie, unbeknownst to him, has always had the ability to see people’s life energies- their auras. Throughout childhood, Hughie had just assumed that everyone could see the colourful haze around people’s forms and as he got older and no doctor or ophthalmologist could find anything actually wrong with him, he assumed that it was some strange variation of colour blindness. After the discovery of his resurrection powers, he learnt that these were not random colours that he was seeing, but people’s life energies. The vividness and brightness of their colours would change depending on how near or far away from death they were and allowed him to see past the powers of Translucent or Doppleganger as their aura remained visible and always the same.Ages: 18hunter verse | America
Hughie had assumed that if anything were to kill him or Robin on their camping trip, then it would have been their lack of outdoors experience. He had never imagined that a mythical creature known as a wendigo would snatch him and his girlfriend from their sleeping bags. Their campsite was discovered by a team of hunters, but by the time they located them, it was already too late for Robin. Hughie had been forced to watch the creature devour his girlfriend alive. The one tiny bit of solace came from watching the creature that had destroyed Robin burn alive by the hunters who’d rescued him.Hughie isn’t spurred on by revenge, for there’s nothing left for him to kill. Instead, he falls into hunting because he doesn’t want anyone to go through what he did; and because the thought of the world being full of horrible creatures is made only slightly more bearable if he actually does something about it. He’s definitely not the best hunter in the world, but what he lacks in dexterity and strength he makes up for in research and courage.Ages: 25-28vampire verse | The Only Living Boy in New YorkImportant info: I’m still learning a lot about the rules of vampire lore. If we’re not playing by the rules hard and fast, this is what I prefer Hughie’s vampirism to look like. I am happy to write him according to the rules I do know, wherein he has to feed off people, daylight will kill him, etc.Robin had told him that it was like something out of Final Destination.Hughie had been driving when the car came out of nowhere. Robin got out relatively unscathed. Hughie had been crushed. He was beyond saving. The last spurts of life were already leaking from his body when Robin came to. She was left with two choices: watch her boyfriend die or bind him to an immortal life that he hadn’t asked for, that she didn’t know if he even wanted. The day Hughie discovered his girlfriend was a vampire was the day he turned into one himself.Instead of fraying their relationship as Robin had feared, it strengthened it. No matter how frightening immortality sounded and how many changes to his body Hughie had to adjust to, Hughie was beyond grateful that Robin had saved his life. And surely immortality wouldn’t be so scary, so long as he had Robin by his side.Of course, Robin doesn’t stay by his side. Tragedy takes her (A-Train in The Boys universe, yet tbd in a regular universe) and Hughie is left alone, a year old fledgling faced with the terrifying prospect of spending the rest of his long life alone without the person he loves the most.Powers
-- Charm. A unique combination of thrall and telepathy which allows Hughie to charm/endear himself to people and animals. This allows him to charm any animal to the point where they can carry out his bidding, should he want them too. This is a power Hughie is learning to control. It happens automatically, even with people, though it isn’t nearly as effective with people as it is with animals. He can’t make people do his bidding as he is terrible at putting people under thralls, but people will find themselves inclined to like and protect him. Hughie dislikes how little control he has over this ability as it leaves him unsure as to whether people genuinely like them or if it’s because of his charm.- Heightened senses- Immortality- Superhuman durability- Heightened speed- Superhuman strengthLimitations
Hughie wears earplugs or his earphones constantly as the addition of his new heightened senses, combined with his undiagnosed autism, can very quickly cause sensory overload. Fluorescent lighting and bright sunny days without sunglasses are his worst enemy. He can go out in daylight, but not only for a few hours at a time. If he spends too long, he’ll start to burn. It won’t kill him, but he’ll wish that it did.Silver will severely weaken and burn him. He can take an insane amount of damage and still survive. So long as he’s not completely obliterated like Robin or beheaded, Hughie will fulfil his destiny as a Final Boy.Important information
Hughie refuses to feed off of humans. His primary source of sustenance comes from animal blood, though he will rob a blood bank if he’s been grievously injured or he’s gone too long without human blood. If someone is bleeding around him, Hughie will try to excuse himself because the smell will drive him insane. The new addition of fangs crowding his mouth created a lisp. He learns to control it, but it will make an appearance when he gets particularly emotional. He also bites his tongue quite a bit as well because of them.
